
The Maloney family from Maloney Livestock Transport at Tamworth – Tara, Isaac, Alex, Mick and Carolyn Maloney travelled to Canberra for the 40th anniversary ALRTA conference, where Alex is also a finalist in the 2025 Young LIvestock Transporter of the Year award, and the family also picked up their latest brand new B-triple trailer combination from Byrne trailers – pictured behind them – taking their total cattle deck numbers to 47 decks.
THE 2025 National Rural Carriers Convention is underway in Canberra, with 400 industry heavy vehicle representatives from across Australia attending to celebrate 40 years of the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association.
The three-day event, hosted by the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association based in NSW, brings together every sector of the livestock and rural transporting chain.
Issues highlighted by a panel of State representatives this morning included the unfolding impact on the livestock transporting industry from live sheep export phase-out in Western Australia, the ongoing work to gain support to build waste management facilities to help manage effluent from livestock trucks and efforts to create harmonisation of state-based laws affecting livestock transporters nationally.
Today’s event also features livestock trailer conversion and tyre changing challenges and test driving opportunities at the Canberra racecourse where the event is being hosted, and will culminate with the 40th anniversary ALRTA gala ball tomorrow night.
